not exactly...there are students who want to do sth similar but were usually banned by their tutor right from the start. Tutors are simply too dubious about their students' ability of completing such a challenging project...or perhaps they don't think they can bring a student towards that goal...?

ling,
but why not take the risk to try!I know Pierre gone through the period to be banned by the tutor, yet he finally turn out with such a nice piece of work!

perhaps you're right...some students simply did not dare to fight for their most wanted idea...maybe pierre's success came from the fact that he's able to gain his tutor's trust...

ling,
last time, I went to the exhibition and I talked with Pierre for nearly half an hour, he told me that he also gone those the stag that tutor banned all his idea,, what he response was "to do his own thing". Sometimes it might be wrong,, but why not trying?at least I think his work is the most powerful work in this exhibition.

haha, what a coincident! I got the chance to talk to his project tutor (a German with a super critical mind~~) during the exhibition and he told me that he always "allows" students to do whatever they want as long as they can justify themselves. Initially he didn't want to be Pierre's tutor because he was all along a lazy boy in previous projects but this time, Pierre tried everything to "proof" that he's going to make it!! Try to imagine someone bringing in all those old stuff in front of you in week 3 of the process (the whole project last for 20 wks)!

So what I really wanted to say in my last post was not disagreeing with your thought on trying things out. What I did want to point out was that everyone wants to do sth they really favour but why only Pierre turns out to be a success? It's because Pierre was able to rebuild his tutor's confidence on him, for which his peers were not capable of! I remember when I did my Final Project, I was going in the opposite of my tutor for the sake of doing a project that solely belongs to me and of course I got a poor grade in return (luckily I still got passed;-) I'm sure there are lots of students who want to try, but not with the peril of spending another year in the school! So this time, Pierre was really brave and so was his tutor, who tried all his best to justify Pierre's project in front of his colleagues!

It always takes two to tango and I do hope that more student projects of such kind can be seen in the near future :)
